Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the MINI warranty?
Three years with unlimited mileage. After that, cover comes from a MINI-sold extension or an independent warranty such as ClearPath.
Are MINIs reliable?
MINI's first-time MOT pass rate was 81.4% in the DVSA's 2024 test year, against a 78.0% average across the 25 makes in our Reliability Hub — seventh of 25, and one of the best results outside the luxury brands.
Is a MINI timing chain covered?
A mechanical failure of the timing chain or tensioner on a covered car can be claimed for, subject to the terms. A fault that was already present when cover started, or damage caused by missed servicing, is not covered.
Can I cover an electric or hybrid MINI?
Yes. ClearPath covers petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric cars. High-voltage battery cover runs up to 9 years or 70,000 miles, with cell replacement limits set out in the cover schedule; gradual battery capacity loss is excluded.
Will my MINI still be eligible after the 3-year warranty ends?
Yes. ClearPath eligibility runs to 15 years or 150,000 miles, so you can move straight from MINI's own cover with no gap.
How much does a warranty cost for a MINI?
Cover starts from £14.88 a month with code CP15, plus 3 months free, on a 3-year plan. Get an instant online price based on your exact MINI, age and mileage.

Important information. This page is general information only. Warranty eligibility, covered components, exclusions, waiting periods, claim limits, excess, labour-rate limits and claim procedures are governed by the applicable ClearPath Protection terms and conditions. Pricing shown is indicative and your actual price depends on your vehicle's age, mileage, fuel type and the cover length you choose. Repair costs shown are typical UK garage estimates and vary by model, parts and region. Manufacturer warranty terms are summarised for comparison; check your own car's documents for the exact terms.
ClearPath Protection warranties are mechanical breakdown warranties — vehicle service contracts, not insurance, and not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Full terms in your policy documents.
